Goal Setting and the Winter Solstice

Total Winter Lunar Eclipse.

The Winter Solstice, also known as Midwinter, occurs around December 21 or 22 each year in the Northern hemisphere, and June 20 or 21 in the Southern Hemisphere. It occurs on the shortest day or longest night of the year sometimes said to astronomically mark the beginning or middle of a hemisphere’s winter. The word solstice derives from Latin, Winter Solstice meaning Sun set still in winter. Worldwide, interpretation of the event varies from culture to culture, but most hold a recognition of rebirth, involving festivals, gatherings, rituals or other celebrations. Many cultures celebrate or celebrated a holiday near the winter solstice; examples of these include Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, New Years, Pongal, Yalda and many other festivals of light.[1]
Symbolic

Often since the event is observed as the reversal of the Sun’s ebbing presence in the sky, concepts of the birth or rebirth of sun gods have been common and, in cultures using winter solisticly based cyclic calendars, the year as reborn has been celebrated with regards to life-death-rebirth deities or new beginnings such as Hogmanay’s redding, a New Years cleaning tradition. Also reversal is another usual theme as in Saturnalia’s slave and master reversals.

Solstice~ My personal experience

Since working with the Winter Solstice energy from 2007 (* see resource for podcast). I have seen a dynamic force within my own Goal setting process. I take the time to go within and be still to hear the inner voice, I take instruction and set my intention for the next six months.

During the Solstice 21/22 December people are rushing to get presents and focusing on the external / lower chakra (material frequencies) when this time could be used to go within. If the Solstice is falls on the date 21st it will represent the number 3, 2+1 = 3 . The number 3 in Verdic astrology relates to Jupiter* and is also is also the number of the Humanitarian, creativity and the Trinity, the triple Goddess aspect* .

If the solstice falls on the 22 2+” = 4 it will represent the square, the builder, structure, and it can also mean restriction, amongst other traits. The four is also related to the planet Uranus*

The period is from the 21st to the 23rd (this is a three-day portal) so during this time the use of tapping into your creativity to plan and find out what is really needed right now and what needs to be done to bring harmony into your life. This is also a time to seed your dreams, pay attention to your dreams, and keep your body free from foods that are going to shut down your Intuition. Use the energy of the number 3 to bring yourself into alignment with Spirit, and the energy of the number to build and give structure which is needed at this time.

I have never experienced a more profound time for setting intentions and seeds to blossom in the Spring and Summer.

Cleansing and Meditation

This year we had a Lunar eclipse and a Solstice within 24 hours of each other.... an event that comes around only every 1400 years.
The buzz around the Internet suggested meditation, letting go of what is not needed, so that one can move forward.

I enjoyed a great Sistah Circle with close friends who came together to share, eating, visualise and plan our goals for the next six months. As I prepare to promote The Creative Healing Playbook , The Creative Healing courses and the Travelling Playshops, I needed to get some nourishing and healing time with my own circle of women friends . The women who came consisted of healers, teachers, artists, nutritionists, acupuncture, etc, etc, and we all had a very fast and busy year so this time was needed.

Circle
There is nothing better than sharing stories, comforting each other, sharing food, and laughing... There is nothing better than planning your goals in a group so that you can continue to do your work and feel that you are also being nurtured. Too many people who are burnt out due to the fact they are giving all the time... I intended to do this as long as I enjoy sharing and working with others, ( if I wish to travel the world and just create) then it will be as a fully healthy individual with a zest for life, and a burnt out and Holistic Coach.

So goals planned and heart light ... I have decided that I will feature some of these great women who have supported me to give tips health and well being. ... In this blog and perhaps maybe some of them will appear in the Creative Healing course...
